Hua Power has finished the delivery and commissioning of an integrated off-grid microgrid in the remote Srezojevci mountains of Serbia. The turnkey installation—comprised of 180kW of solar PV, 645kWh of battery energy storage and a 150kW industrial off-grid inverter—now supplies continuous power to a mixed cluster of local users including a factory, a clinic, a hotel and small workshops.
Project snapshot
Location: Srezojevci, Serbia (mountainous, no public grid access)
Installed capacity: 180 kW PV + 645 kWh BESS + 150 kW off-grid inverter
Typical demand: ~103 kW aggregate (lighting, medical equipment, lathes, air compressors, hotel loads)
Operating mode: PV-first during daytime → battery discharge at night → diesel generator for contingency; UPS-grade transfer for critical circuits
OverviewFacing the challenges of a scattered load profile and heavy motor start currents, the project was engineered to prioritize renewable generation while guaranteeing reliable 24/7 power. The system’s control logic favors on-site solar production and only employs the diesel generator when the battery state-of-charge and load forecasts require backup support. During mode transitions, critical equipment remains powered through UPS-level switching to prevent interruptions to medical and production activities.
Technical features
Industrial off-grid inverter for high-inrush loads: The selected 150 kW inverter provides robust surge handling and stable output suitable for motor-driven machinery, reducing the risk of trips during heavy starts.
Coordinated energy management: An EMS coordinates PV, battery and generator operation—optimizing charge/discharge cycles, maximizing solar utilization and extending battery life.
Safety and remote diagnostics: The installation incorporates layered electrical protections, thermal and cell monitoring via BMS, and remote telemetry for proactive maintenance and fault response.
Local handover and training: Following commissioning, Hua Power completed on-site operator training and supplied comprehensive operation & maintenance documentation to enable confident local operation.
Benefits realized
Reliable round-the-clock electricity for healthcare, hospitality and light industrial services in an off-grid community.
Reduced diesel dependency and operating expense through solar prioritization and intelligent battery dispatch.
Improved power quality and operational continuity for sensitive and mission-critical loads.
A scalable template for similar remote-area deployments where grid extension is impractical.
The Srezojevci microgrid demonstrates Hua Power’s capability to design and deliver resilient, hybrid energy systems for remote communities and industrial sites. By combining photovoltaic generation, battery storage and intelligent control with diesel backup, the solution achieves both energy independence and operational reliability. Hua Power continues to refine its off-grid expertise to support decentralized electrification and sustainable energy access worldwide.
